Spike TV has been airing a show called Lip Sync Battle, where celebrities come to show off their general amazing lip syncing skills and battle for who’s best. Now the Carnival cruise ship line is getting in on the fun by offering their own version called “Lip Sync Battle Carnival.”

The program is being developed alongside Spike so it’s authentic, but of course it won’t be full of dueling celebrities but rather dueling cruise ship passengers. At the beginning of each cruise the preliminary round will held on the pool deck to check out the interested competition. Then from there, judges will choose two finalists who will compete head to head in a full scale production that includes costumes, choreography, and a stage. They will even get their own backup dancers.

After the two finalists give it their all, the other passengers on the ship will determine who the winner was.

Dan Yang, the executive vice president and general manager of consumer products for Viacom Media Networks explained why they came up with the idea.

Lip Sync Battle has a footprint in over 150 countries worldwide — so now it’s time to hit the oceans as well.”

The show was actually nominated for an Emmy this year in the category of Outstanding Structured Reality Program, but that win ultimately went to ABC’s Shark Tank.
